Ingredients:
- 2 Cups of flour
- 1 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 1 1/4 cups of whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
For the filling:
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Butter the donut pan well.
- In a large bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Mix the wet mixture with the dry ingredients until just blended.
- Pour the mixture into the pan, filling each a little more than three quarters. Cook for 17 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Leave to cool for 5 minutes, then beat the donuts on a baking sheet.
Gasket
- For the garnish, melt the 8 tablespoons of butter in an 8-inch pan.
- Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Dip each donut first in the butter and then in the cinnamon sugar, on one side or both sides.
